How does the competition filter work?

The competition filter can be used to either include or exclude competitions from your dropping odds alerts. There are many reasons why you would want to be alerted about certain competitions and not others such as sportsbook competition coverage and speed of odds adjustments at your soft sportsbooks for different competitions.

How to set the competition filter correctly

Setting your competition filter has very specific rules, which you need to follow carefully, or you risk messing up your alerts.
Rules (Important):
  • To filter competitions, use the textbox. Leave it blank to include all competitions.
  • This filter is not case-sensitive (e.g. "Italy" and "ItAlY"are treated the same).
  • Separate competitions using commas (e.g. "Premier League, Champions League").
  • The filter matches competition names containing the text you specify. For instance, if you set it to "premier" it will match competitions like "England - Premier League" and "Northern Ireland - Premiership."
  • You can be as specific or general as you like. For example, "a, b" will match all competitions with either an "a" or a "b" in their name.
  • If you toggle on include mode then any competitions that you input will be alerted for. If you toggle on exclude mode then any competitions that you input will not be alerted for. You cannot have include and exclude working at the same time.

Example

If you wanted to exclude the competitions “Czech Republic - 3. Liga MSFL” and “Poland - 1. Liga” that were alerted for below then you would copy the competition names into the textbox after making sure that the filter was set to exclude.

Notice that the filter is set using the exact same spellings that are used in the Match column of the alerts table. We recommend you spell out the competitions in full unless you want to include or exclude a group of competitions that are, for example, all in the same country then it might make sense to only put partial spellings into the filter like ‘Poland’.

How to include/exclude competitions efficiently

Because there are so many different competitions being played around the world that Pinnacle cover (especially for soccer and basketball) it can take a while to include or exclude all the competitions that you want to. There are ways to speed this process up.

Copy Pinnacle.com’s league lists

To speed things up you can use Pinnacle.com’s league list to find the correct competition names and spellings. We use the exact same names and spellings that Pinnacle.com use so you can copy and paste from their league list directly into our filter’s textbox. Be aware that Pinnacle’s league list does change depending on what leagues they are offering lines for at the time of checking.

Include or Exclude as you’re value betting

Another efficient technique is to include or exclude competitions as you’re value betting. This is efficient because you are able to use feedback from you’re betting to decide which competitions you want to receive future alerts for or which ones you don’t so in effect you are doing both the research and configuring concurrently.
Competition names are included in every alert so that makes it easy to copy them over to the filter’s textbox.

Copy and paste competitions into the filter textbox

You can one-click copy home, away and competition names straight from your alerts or the event. This means you can quickly locate the alerted event in your sportsbook and efficiently add competitions to your alert configurations.

Corners and bookings

Lines for corners and bookings (moneyline, spreads and totals) are listed under different competitions from the other lines for the event in question. The only difference between the competitions is that the word ‘Corners’ or ‘Bookings’ is tagged at the end of the normal competition name.

Excluding all corners or bookings alerts

If you want to exclude all corners alerts then you would simply type ‘corners’ into the exclude textbox:
Competition filter that excludes all corners lines
Competition filter that excludes all corners lines
If you want to exclude all bookings alerts then you would type ‘bookings’ into the exclude textbox:
Competition filter that excludes all bookings lines
Competition filter that excludes all bookings lines

Should you include or exclude competitions?

If you only want to receive alerts for two or three competitions then the quickest thing for you to do would be to add the competitions to your include box.
If you want to stop getting alerted about competitions that you don’t have at your soft bookmakers then you should periodically exclude them. As a new alert comes in for a competition that you discover is not available at your local soft bookmaker you should at that point exclude the competition. Be careful though, your soft bookmaker might offer markets for the competition but not for the specific game so make sure to check that first by looking at the bookmaker’s list of offered competitions.
