easyJet's Owner Enters Exchange Betting in Partnership with Matchbook ✈️
The owner of easyJet has launched easyBet.net in partnership with Matchbook, aiming to tackle the persistent liquidity challenges in exchange betting. The platform shares Matchbook's liquidity pool, effectively serving as a new front-end for their established exchange. While easyGroup brings massive brand recognition from its budget airline ventures, questions remain about whether this can meaningfully expand Matchbook's existing user base to create deeper markets that attract more traders.
Industry observers note that while most exchanges maintain decent liquidity for major events like Premier League matches, the real test will come in secondary markets where value opportunities often exist. Success would likely require significant investment in market-making capabilities and aggressive commission policies to attract liquidity providers.

Betfair Exchange: New Year, New Commission Structure 🟡
Betfair Exchange has replaced its controversial Premium Charge with a new "Expert Fee" system as of January 6. The revised structure introduces three tiers:
No additional fees for users with profits under £25,000 over 52 weeks
20% fee for profits between £25,000-£100,000
40% fee for profits exceeding £100,000
This marks a significant shift from the previous system where top traders could face charges up to 60% of their earnings. The move comes as Betfair's UK and Irish racing markets show declining volumes, dropping from £1.5B to under £1B (inflation-adjusted) in Q1 trading between 2020-2024.

Telegram Poll of the Week 📊

Pinnacle Odds Dropper released version 1.103 on January 15, adding a highly-requested bet log export feature. Users can now export their betting data to Excel for deeper analysis, a capability frequently asked for since the bet tracker's launch.
The new functionality demonstrates POD's commitment to enhancing its bet-tracking ecosystem based on user feedback. In less than three months since launching the bet tracker, users have already logged over 100,000 bets.

And just like that another week's Steam Report comes to an end. May the betting gods be with you.
